Rob Bell Should Preach About Hell 10-12-11 Commentary

If a preacher is faithful to the call to preach they need to preach at times

about sin and hell don’t you agree. Rob Bell has decided to leave Mars Hill

Church, the Michigan, megachurch he and his wife founded 12 years ago, to

focus on a broader audience, Bell is the author of Love Waits which gives the

idea no one goes to hell.

Perhaps this church now can get a Pastor who truly believes the Bible

including the parts about Hell. Just because a pastor or lay person

doesn’t like something in the Bible doesn’t mean the Bible isn’t correct.

As I heard somebody say once if you disagree with the Bible it is you not

the word of God that needs to change.

What do you think.

Is youth ministry and youth groups good for churches 10-11-11 Commentary

Is youth ministry and youth groups good for churches. Producers of the documentary film Divided: Is Age-Segregated Ministry Multiplying or Dividing the Church is raising concerns whether modern youth ministry is contrary to scripture. As a soul who has worked in youth ministry and with young people in the church and out of the church for years I believe youth ministry if done right can add to the mission of the church.

If the leaders of the youth group are committed to preaching/teaching young people the Bible, showing them their need for Christ, and helping them grow in their understanding of God, and the Bible the youth group is a good thing. However if youth leaders ever forget the Bible and God and youth groups become a place to put the kids so they don’t get in the way of the real ministry to the adults it is not a good thing.

911 Cross Should Upset Souls 9-22-11 Commentary

(mp3 )

Some souls on the left are upset by a cross that is displayed at the 9/11 memorial site in New York City. I have no problem with this cross being displayed and I think those who are upset by it’s display are wrong.

However should we be shocked that the cross upsets people. As part of an article which was posted on the Christianity Today web site said. "The cross has always provoked a variety of responses, most of which have been negative. The cross upsets souls because it shows that a sinless Savior had to die for your sins and mine. As the Jewish-turned Christian theologian St. Paul put it, "a stumbling block and foolishness. It is also the power of the cross that saves our souls."

Purpose of the Ten Commandments 9-21-11 Commentary

(mp3)

What is the purpose of the
Ten Commandments ? The American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear an Ohio Ten Commandments case. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has also filed suit, but the ACLJ attorney is asking the Supreme Court to take the case, as his organization argues the ACLU does not have legal standing to sue
.I have no problem with governments displaying the Ten Commandments but something I am afraid followers of Jesus forget who keep fighting court cases to have them display is that no one can keep them or by keeping any of them does one get right with the living God.

Crystal Cathedral Trouble 9-8-11 Commentary

Don’t you think if a church doesn’t preach the whole Bible it might lead to God removing his blessing from that church. So what are my thoughts about the trouble the Crystal Cathedral in CA. is having.

The Southern California church launched by Robert Schuller is having trouble. It owes a lot in unpaid bills and has declared Bankruptcy. Let me make it clear God has not told me this but I just wonder if this church is having trouble today because it doesn't preach the whole Bible. You know the parts about sin and hell.

Dr. Schuller I heard some place say the worst thing the Bible believing churches have done is to tell people they are sinners. Dr. Schuller is a gifted preacher with vision but he needs to preach the whole Bible.

Trust Jesus and All Your Problems Are Gone 8-25-11 Commentary

One of the biggest lies is given too often when we tells souls the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is if you will trust Jesus as your Savior all your problems will go away.

There are a lot of books and songs and sermons and church banners that talk about “victory” and “peace” and “joy” but rare are the ones that deal with struggle and tension, hardship, and pain. But life in a fallen world includes both sides, Faith in God should not reject the bad stuff or take it away but faith helps you cope and go through the hard stuff don’t you think.

A trial will make you a better person or a bitter person. Perhaps this is why the church is growing in places where it is hard to follow God like China.

Reject Negative Parts of the Bible 8-18-11 Commentary

I think a preacher that cares about preaching the word of God should not preach part of the Bible but reject the parts of Bible he doesn’t like what about you.

I love to watch videos on the You Tube channel. Awhile back I watched a video that had a well known pastor who preaches positive thinking and has a TV ministry. This pastor said when he started his TV ministry he only wanted the positive verses from the Bible not the negative verses read.

Don’t you think if a Pastor is truly committed to the word he should preach all the Bible including the parts about God judging us, and sin. By the way this pastor’s church is having some trouble today which has made the news.

I wonder if God could be judging his ministry. I don’t know I am not God but I do wonder.

Denomination Rejects the Bible 8-1-11 Commentary

One of the oldest denominations in the country finally caved and now allows openly gay clergy to serve its congregations.

The highest elected official of the Presbyterian Church USA, said “…some people are ready to get to the other side of this decision. I hope…we can stay together and be faithful witnesses to the Gospel…”

What gospel is he talking about? It is true that Jesus Christ forgives all sin and accepts all sinners that will turn to him. But He commands sinners to leave a sinful lifestyle,

Where there is no truth there can’t be unity.

Don’t you think this move by this church might be a good reason for Bible based souls to get out of this denomination.

Keeping Kids Out of the Big House July 29, 2011 Commentary

Here is a great idea. I think all good parents want their kids to avoid the big house.

If that is the case in your house take your kids to God’s house and don’t just take them go with them. Taking a bite out of crime may be as easy as sinking your behind into church.

According to the latest numbers, kids who worship monthly at a church aren't as likely to get pulled over by police when they grow up. And they're less likely to get charged when they do.

I guess the more you're exposed to God's law, the less likely you are to break the laws of our land.

Obey God and the Laws of the Land July 25, 2011 Commentary

"I'm told by the Hispanic community that perhaps 40 percent of all the Southern Baptist Hispanics in America are undocumented -- which shouldn't surprise us," says Richard Land who heads the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission "I mean, they come here to work, and we aggressively evangelize and they find Jesus as their Savior . The first job of the church is to reach people with the good news of Jesus however after salvation shouldn’t we teach converts what the Bible says about obeying the laws of the land.

We who follow Christ are to obey the laws of the land unless by obeying those laws we would disobey a command of God. As Peter would have when in the book of Acts he said we must obey God rather than men.

The Manhattan Declaration July 20, 2011 Commentary

\If you are a follower of Jesus I don’t believe anything should come second to proclaiming the good news of Jesus do you? Well some followers of Jesus are encouraging other followers of Christ to sign The Manhattan Declaration. That declaration for the most part is a statement that was written by different spiritual leaders to take on the culture issues. However a concern I have is the document seems to accept anyone who says they are a follower of Jesus as one as long as they belong to a Christian church. My Bible doesn’t teach that. Radio Bible teacher and Pastor John MacArthur has the same concern so he refused to put his name on the statement.
As important as the moral issues are we can’t make anything more important than the gospel can we. What do you think.

Christians is killed July 19, 2011 Commentary

I think at times followers of Jesus here in America get upset over little things don’t you. A new report from an Italian sociologist shows that a Christian is killed every five minutes because of his or her faith, and the researcher says it's critical that that information is made known to the world.

The study points out that approximately 105,000 Christians are killed every year. You see here in America we don't have it too hard. Too many followers of Christ here in America think we aren't being treated right if the sermon doesn't end before the NFL kickoff, or we are being treated bad because the schools won't allow our kids to say a state approved prayer.)

Non Faithful Pastor July 18, 2011 Commentary

Don’t you think a Pastor should be faithful to what the Bible teaches. A homosexual Methodist pastor from Wisconsin has been suspended for 20 days for officiating at a lesbian "wedding." Amy DeLong freely admitted her action, which prompted a church trial .

A jury of clergy convicted her and decided on the sentence . It looks like this church body isn't willing to enforce it's own rules or God's rules for that matter. This Pastor is going to have to stand before God's court one day and he isn't going to suspended her for just for 20 days.) Again shouldn't’t Pastors be faithful to what the Bible teaches. Of course too many Pastors don’t believe follow the Lordship of God’s word do they.

A Cult July 14, 2011 Commentary

Would you call the following spiritual views in line with Bible based Christian faith. Jesus and Satan are brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both. A plan of salvation was needed for the people of earth so Jesus offered a plan to the Father and Satan offered a plan to the father but Jesus' plan was accepted. We will one day become a god. Jesus' sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, God had sexual relations with Mary to make the body of Jesus.

What I just listed are classic views of what the Mormon church teaches.

If something goes against the Bible it can’t be Christian right and the Mormon church isn’t teaching Bible based Christian faith. The Mormon church is a cult.

July 7, 2011 We Should Never Say We Are Sorry Commentary

I don’t believe us who are committed to the Lordship of the Bible should say we are ever sorry for following the word. It is who we are after all. We have to be true to ourselves and to our Lord don’t we.
A Southern Baptist leader doesn't think a pro-homosexual group will get too far with its request for an apology from the Southern Baptists. Terry Fox, senior pastor of Summit Church says the group is looking in the wrong place for an apology.
"I think they're the ones that owe America an apology," he contends. "Their whole platform, that whole organization...is nothing but perversion, and it damages families, it damages children. Ultimately, it damages our own society." Amen we need to follow the Bible hate the sin love the sinner.

June 27, 2011 Commentary Church and Marriage

Recently Jim Daly at Focus on the Family said something we should ponder. Jim was interviewed by World Magazine, and at one point Daly was asked about same-sex marriage and the church.

Daly acknowledged that Christians have done such a poor job with marriage that it hampered our efforts to defend it. And he said, “We’ve got to look at our own house, make sure that our marriages are healthy, that we’re being a good witness to the world. Too often our leaders aren't willing to deal with this issue fundraising letters about divorce don’t get one many donations unlike letters about gay rights.

Good Come out of False Teaching Christ Return June 16, 2011 Commentary

So can anything good come out of the false teaching that Christ was to return last month which of course he didn’t. I believe two good things could come out of it.

First off if people get a spiritual desire to see what the Bible really says about Christ return not what some teacher says and then if people start to think about if they are ready if Christ would return today because one day he will return. The only way to be ready is by putting your faith in Christ and following him have you done that if not I hope and pray you will.

June 14, 2011 Commentary Why Christ Didn't Come Back in May

Recently another one of those folks told us Christ was coming back last month. This so called Bible teacher was wrong and for my next few commentaries I want to tell you why I knew he was wrong and why so many people were fooled into believing what he taught. We are talking about Bible teacher Harold Camping.

Mr. Camping was wrong to set a date not because that is what I think but because the Bible he claims to follow he doesn’t obey. God has told us not to set dates and God has said in his word no one knows when Christ will return but God the father.

Mr. Camping is a false teacher. We should stop supporting his work and sending God’s money to his radio network. What do you think. Until Next Time I’m Billy David Dickson
