Kings Values: 1-16-12 Commentary

Listen to the commentary http://billydteacher.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/2052/

Today Monday, January 16, is Martin Luther King Day. Some Schools will be closed though I think it might be better to keep those schools opened and teach the kids about Martin Luther King but of course the kids aren’t going to hear about the values which guided King in the government schools.

During his Birmingham civil rights campaign, Dr. King required every participant to sign a pledge committing to do ten things. The first was to “meditate daily on the teachings and life of Jesus.” Others included the expectation that all participants would “walk and talk in the manner of love, for God is love;” and “pray daily to be used by God in order that all men might be free.”

Those of us who value life should be thankful for Dr. King.

Harder Growing Up 11-7-11 Commentary

Monday, November 07, 2011

(audio)

As many of you know this last Friday, November 4th my radio commentary program on KCRO radio ended but from time to time I will post a commentary here on my blog. Today I am doing the first one of those.

I want read something I wrote in a newsletter that I send out to family, and others who pray and support the work I do.

I believe it is harder to grow up today than in other times. No debate it has never been easy going through your teens or preteens. However once the same values and messages were preached in the church, in the school house, and in the home. Not today. You see the value that all human life is a gift from God put down. You see marriages breaking up perhaps even in your own home. You see anyone who stands up for God or faith in a higher power ridiculed by the media. You see different churches by a single vote of her leaders no longer calling sin what the Bible calls sin. So yes it is harder growing up today but as soul who has worked with young people for many years I am trying through what I do to show young people there are values like family, and faith in God that will remain even when things are shaky.

Warren Buffett's Money has Blood on it 11-2-11 Commentary

(audio )

Awhile back Warren Buffett said that rich people were not paying enough in taxes. If Mr. Buffett doesn’t think the government charges him enough in taxes no one including Uncle Sam will stop him from sending more money to Washington.

However instead of being concerned about who pays what in taxes Mr. Buffett should do some hard thinking on what he does with his own money.

Mr. Buffett’s money has blood on it’s hands. He is a big supporter of Planned Parenthood the # one provider of abortions in America. I don’t know about you but I want my money used for good and Godly things not to kill children. What do you think. Until Next Time I’m Billy David Dickson

No More Rosary at School 10-24-11 Commentary

If we outlaw everything good that has been used for bad would we not outlaw everything.

The Fremont Nebraska school district has banned a necklace that looks like a rosary after police told officials it’s also being worn by gang members.

I am not Catholic and I don’t believe in saying a prayer using a rosary but why is a government school stopping something that some students and their parents believe in. The Schools allow everything sinful but not anything that speaks kindly of faith. Perhaps it is time for Catholic parents to remove their children from the government schools. Is this school also going to band the Cross because the KKK has used it. Oh I forgot this is a government school so the cross is already outlawed from it. What do you think.

Prayers to Jesus No, Islam Prayers Yes 10-20-11 Commentary

(mp3)
Why does the ACLU back some faith based souls but not others. The ANC (American News Commentary) reported in its September 21, 2011 issue that the ACLU is defending the right of Muslims to exercise prayer in public schools in San Diego… Really? I am not joking.
Over the last 40 years or so, the ACLU has terrified many school boards, school administrators, and school children by threatening to drag them into court if they pray in public. However now they are going to back followers of Islam who want to express their faith in the government schools.
I guess the ACLU knows that Christians and Jews won’t murder those who try to stop them but followers of Islam will. Christians will just pray for those who are against them unlike followers of Islam.

Obama Is Not God, 10-17-11 Commentary

(mp3 )

Do you know any person who can walk on water? I don’t.
Recently on The Gospel Coalition blog, Kevin DeYoung offered a blunt reminder: “the President is not GodAmericans, even those who are followers of Jesus , have a tendency to want our President to “right every wrong and solve every problem,
During the last President election some backers of Obama made it out like he could walk on water. Back when Reagan was in office at the convention of Religious Broadcasters a well known Pastor kept track which name was talked about more Jesus or Reagan. Reagan won. Jesus is the answer.
There is a place for politics but no human can solve all of our problems.

One sin worst than another or better than another? 10-14-11 Commentary

Is one kind of sin worst than another or better than another?

On SEPTEMBER 20, 2011 AT MIDNIGHT, THE

MILITARY POLICY KNOWN AS “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL”

EXPIRED. GAY RIGHTS GROUPS CELEBRATED.

DURING ITS 18 YEARS, DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL LEAD TO THE DISCHARGE OF AN ESTIMATED 13,000 MEN AND WOMEN FROM

THE ARMED SERVICES. I don’t believe it was good for our

nation or for the military to end this policy.

However why should one bad behavior be ranked ahead of another

bad behavior. UNMARRIED HETEROSEXUAL

MILITARY PERSONNEL WERE NOT PUNISHED FOR HAVING SEX. According to the Bible IN THE END, WE ARE ALL SINNERS.

OF COURSE THE GAY RIGHTS CROWD HAS ANOTHER AGENDA

but according to God Sin is sin.

Teacher Fired for Expressing His Views 9-28-11 Commentary

(mp3 )

Don’t you think teachers should have the right to express their views on their own time. A Florida teacher who was teacher of the year has been suspended and removed from the classroom for comments made on his own Facebook page against homosexual "marriage." >

So a teacher on his own free time doesn't have the freedom to express his own views. Those who support same sex marriage want to take away our freedoms to express our views even if they are based on the Bible.

The good news is this teacher has been restated .

supporting sexual abuse against children 9-23-11 Commentary

Don’t you think we should be concerned about those who are abused by others. Several well-known researchers have made unexpected arguments supporting those who commit sexual abuse against children at an academic conference in Baltimore.

Liberty Counsel Action's Matt Barber attended the conference and says he felt he was on a different planet. He says the entire focus of the event was on the victimhood of the abuser . There was "very little concern for the children who are the victims of these individuals when they are raped. Barber said.

As a follower of the Lord Jesus I believe people can be changed and be forgiven by God if they will repent but that doesn't mean we at all should excuse sin or bad behavior. And that is what they did at this conference. The rights of children must come first.

I don't Want People Pleasing Leaders 9-20-11 Commentary

( .mp3 )

I want leaders who will not be people pleasers do you? Last month Starbucks' chief executive canceled a high-profile church appearance after an online protest over the congregation's views on homosexuality.

It is too bad when leaders are fearful to stand up for what is right and are forced not to do something because of the views of others. Today we hear a lot about being tolerant of others but where is the tolerance for us who believe what the Bible says about homosexuality. .

Devil in Politics 9-14-11 Commentary

Don’t you think we should not make the devil out to be some political tool to see our political will done. Awhile back after a deal in the budget debate was reached between President Obama and Congress one of our leaders in D.C. called the deal a Satan sandwich."
The leader that called it that besides being a leader in D.C. is a Pastor so he should have known better. There is a real devil that we shouldn’t play politics with.
I know there is a devil for two reasons the Bible says there is one and I follow current events. How can one explain all the bad horrible things that happens in this world like drugs, crime, terrorists attacks if there is no devil. Now we should not give the devil too much power at the same time we should accept the devil has some power which is limited but greater is God who is in us. What do you think.

Closing the Boarders 9-13-11 Commentary

Believe it or not they are closing the Borders with many souls getting into our nation in a non legal way and some of them are terrorists, or drug runners, this may sound like a good move or direction for our nation to take. However I am talking about the large chain of bookstores that’s going out of business, closing all of their remaining 399 stores in malls and shopping centers across the nation.

I will miss Boarders. There is still something cool about a book to read that is not downloaded on your computer. Lets support the book stores in our community so they don’t become the next Borders to close.

Pray for the employees of Borders along with other souls who are looking for jobs or will be looking for jobs.

Crystal Cathedral Trouble 9-8-11 Commentary

Don’t you think if a church doesn’t preach the whole Bible it might lead to God removing his blessing from that church. So what are my thoughts about the trouble the Crystal Cathedral in CA. is having.

The Southern California church launched by Robert Schuller is having trouble. It owes a lot in unpaid bills and has declared Bankruptcy. Let me make it clear God has not told me this but I just wonder if this church is having trouble today because it doesn't preach the whole Bible. You know the parts about sin and hell.

Dr. Schuller I heard some place say the worst thing the Bible believing churches have done is to tell people they are sinners. Dr. Schuller is a gifted preacher with vision but he needs to preach the whole Bible.

Challenging the Catholic Church 9-7-11 Commentary

Don’t you think all people of faith should be willing to challenge their church if the leadership of the church does wrong. Irish Prime Minister Kenny has given it to the Vatican for how it has handled the sexual abuse of children in his Romans Catholic Church.

Let me make it clear the Catholic Church has done a lot of good it’s stand for the unborn should put a lot of us Evangelicals to shame who were slow to that cause. The Prime Minister was upset how the church seems to not have reported abuse to legal authorities. He said that “the Irish people, including the very many faithful Catholics who – like him – have been shocked and dismayed by the repeated failings of Church authorities to face up to what is required.

For the sake of the children I hope the leaders of this church will listen to the Prime Minister.

Amy Winehouse's Life/Death 9-6-11 Commentary

If somebody you know does drugs or drinks too much besides praying for them do what you can for them or they might end up being another Amy Winehouse.

We all learned a few months ago of her tragic death, from an overdose. Winehouse won a grammy for her song “Rehab." Here are the chilling lyrics of that song. “They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said, ‘no, no, no.’”

We called what Winehouse did an art but all art is embedded with ideas that are either true or false, genuine or counterfeit. Her death should be a lesson to all young people not to use drugs and not to join the drinking crowd I bet today Amy wishes she had not. What do you think.

Labor Day/Not Working 9-5-11 Commentary

(mp3 )

It is Labor Day and we all know Labor isn’t just what your birth mother did before you came into this world. It is work.
Labor Day use to be the last holiday before schools started after Summer break though now most schools start before Labor Day sorry kids.
It was also the day we saw Jerry Lewis raise money for MD.
Mostly this day should be about work. Today the value of work is missing from our culture. People rather stay home and get a check from Uncle Sam than go to work. We need to start working and trusting in God again who’s word says if you can work but don’t you shouldn’t eat. What do you think.

Harmless crime? Not! 9-2-11 Commentary

Don’t you think something which has led to these things sex trafficking, violence against women, and long lasting effects on children and families is not a harmless crime.

Over the years, many have claimed that porn is a harmless crime. But the evidence shows that porn is harmful. It hurts women, children, families, and has made our nation more broken.

A very troubling development is that there have been zero prosecutions of illegal, hardcore adult pornography under the Obama administration. Let me say that again zero prosecutions. Thanks Attorney General Eric Holder.

Why Norway 9-1-11 Commentary

When something bad happens I believe we should look at why it happened not to make excuses but to explain it and keep it from happening again don’t you agree.

The nation of Norway is a paradise on earth . That all changed when in July Norway had their own 9/11 happen. Norway is in a state of absolute, total shock in the aftermath of one of the most heartless acts of terrorism since the 9/11 attacks. The problem is the people of Norway awhile back turned away from God. They deny the doctrine of sin. An police spokesperson said this “What the world needs to understand about Norway, is that this incident represents our loss of innocence, because we’ve been a very safe country to live in until now.” She then added: “There’s been no reason to keep people in prison for life.” But there has been and always will be. It’s the three letter word called sin.

Trust Jesus and All Your Problems Are Gone 8-25-11 Commentary

One of the biggest lies is given too often when we tells souls the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is if you will trust Jesus as your Savior all your problems will go away.

There are a lot of books and songs and sermons and church banners that talk about “victory” and “peace” and “joy” but rare are the ones that deal with struggle and tension, hardship, and pain. But life in a fallen world includes both sides, Faith in God should not reject the bad stuff or take it away but faith helps you cope and go through the hard stuff don’t you think.

A trial will make you a better person or a bitter person. Perhaps this is why the church is growing in places where it is hard to follow God like China.
