No Pleasure in Death 10-13-11 Commentary

Don’t you think those of us who follow Christ

should not take the pleasure in the death of anyone even if it is done by

the state and is justified. Up front this is not a commentary about

Rick Perry and I am not saying don’t cast your vote for him.

I like many things he has said but the other night he was off base.

The other night in reply to a question Gov.

Perry said he has not lost any sleep over putting anyone to death.

Now there might be times when the state has no choice but to put somebody

to death but it is not something that should be easy to do and it for sure

shouldn’t be something to cheer about as the crowd did in response to

Gov. Perry’s reply.

Besides doesn’t the Bible somewhere tell us not to take pleasure in the death

of the wicked.

What do you think.

Voting Issues July 12, 2011 Commentary

A recent survey of voters by the Barna Group has found most Americans will cast their votes in 2012 based on issues like health care, taxes, terrorism, and employment. In other words, issues that “affect their personal security and comfort,” while issues like abortion, poverty, environmental policy, and gay marriage -- or the “moral” issues- were less important to the majority of voters.

However there was a clear exception. Self-identified religious conservatives clearly cared about more issues than the non-religious. And it should be that way.

A Biblical perspective sees all dimensions of reality as important to God.

On the other hand, secularism limits our view, failing to see the important connection between issues of civic policy and personal morality.

Mormon in the White House June 23, 2011 Commentary

Mitt Romney’s campaign team knows that his Mormon faith scared off Republican voters the last time he ran for president. But they believe a lot has changed in the last four years .

As a Bible based follower of the Lord Jesus I have mixed feelings on this. I do believe the Mormon Church is a cult but should that keep us from voting for somebody I don't know.

I believe we need to decide who to vote for based on how they stand on the issues. Lets pray for Mormons including those who may be seeking office to find the true Jesus. Perhaps Mitt running for office will open the door for us to share the truth with Mormons and others.

What do you think.
