July 1, 2011 Commentary

MTV is known for pushing the lines of decency.

Just this year, the show Skins reached new extremes of sinful sexuality. But at MTV Movie Awards, actress Reese Witherspoon offered different advice. “I get that’s it cool to be a bad girl,” she said. “But it is possible to make it in Hollywood without doing a reality show.”

Too often Reality shows push the moral compass to the wrong side. The vacuum of true art is a huge opportunity for Christians. Historically, Christians have led the arts. Lets encourage young Christians to go into the arts to make a difference.

June 30, 2011 Commentary Helping Gays

Don’t you think parents, teachers, youth Pastors, and Sunday School teachers should help youth not to follow a lifestyle that causes them trouble.

Teens can be troubled, but a huge new study released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that gay, lesbian or bisexual adolescents are more likely than their heterosexual peers to take unhealthy risks.

The CDC found that gay , lesbian or bisexual students had higher rates for seven of the 10 health risk categories: violence, attempted suicide, smoking, drinking, other drug use, risky sexual behaviors and weight management issues.

This should be a call to all of us who care about young people to help them not to engage in a lifestyle that will give them nothing but trouble. What do you think.

June 29, 2011 Commentary Happy About Divorce

Don’t you think there are somethings that takes place in our world that we shouldn’t make jokes about. A new TV Show has started on the TV Land Network called Happily Divorced. As a person who has worked with children from third grade all the way up to the junior high years I know divorce is not a happy thing.

In some cases where there is abuse it is better than living with the abuser but still it is not something to laugh over.

Divorce is not a laughing matter for our culture, or for the children from divorce homes. Shame on TV land don’t you think they could create something truly funny that hasn’t hurt anyone.

June 28, 2011 Commentary Teaching Kids Right from Wrong

Here is a story that makes me question if we are doing a good job of teaching kids what evil is. Parents in an Arkansas town are outraged after a middle school yearbook published the names of former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney in a list of the "worst" people of all time. It was a short list. At the top was Adolph Hitler, followed by Osama bin Laden, Charles Manson -- and then Bush and Cheney.

Jerry Cox, founder and president of the Arkansas Family Council, says the yearbook advisor is ultimately responsible. > It looks to me like some kids at this school along with some school leaders need to be taken to the woodshed. Of course it might help if adults would explain what evil is. Good people might disagree on issues but just because you don't agree with another soul doesn't make them evil. )

June 27, 2011 Commentary Church and Marriage

Recently Jim Daly at Focus on the Family said something we should ponder. Jim was interviewed by World Magazine, and at one point Daly was asked about same-sex marriage and the church.

Daly acknowledged that Christians have done such a poor job with marriage that it hampered our efforts to defend it. And he said, “We’ve got to look at our own house, make sure that our marriages are healthy, that we’re being a good witness to the world. Too often our leaders aren't willing to deal with this issue fundraising letters about divorce don’t get one many donations unlike letters about gay rights.

Dr. Jack's Death

Jack Kevorkian, the retired pathologist who captured the world's attention as he helped dozens of people kill themselves died in a Detroit area hospital this month. He was 83. I

don't believe in speaking ill of the dead and I hope and pray Dr. Kevorkian's family is touched by God's grace at this time. However this man changed America and not for the good.

I think when somebody is ill it would be better to comfort and pray for them instead of help them commit suicide I say that as a person who has suffered from a painful illness.

The answer to all sickness is not death but showing another soul that God and you love them don’t you think. What do you think. Until Next Time I’m Billy David Dickson

Mormon in the White House June 23, 2011 Commentary

Mitt Romney’s campaign team knows that his Mormon faith scared off Republican voters the last time he ran for president. But they believe a lot has changed in the last four years .

As a Bible based follower of the Lord Jesus I have mixed feelings on this. I do believe the Mormon Church is a cult but should that keep us from voting for somebody I don't know.

I believe we need to decide who to vote for based on how they stand on the issues. Lets pray for Mormons including those who may be seeking office to find the true Jesus. Perhaps Mitt running for office will open the door for us to share the truth with Mormons and others.

June 22, 2011 Commentary Should the sex of a child matter?

Should the sex of a child matter? A couple in Canada has three children -- 2 sons and one yet to be determined. They’re raising their third child, four-month old Storm, as neither boy nor girl, but “free of societal norms about gender.”

Only close family and friends know if the child’s male or female. I could be wrong but this sounds like what the Feminist want to do to our culture. You know the thinking goes like this men and women are the same. No they are not, both sexes have their strong points and have their weak points.

God decides what sex a child is and he makes no mistakes right. What do you think. Until Next Time I’m Billy David Dickson

June 21, 2011 Commentary Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus the star of the TV show HONNA Montana seems to be struggling in her spiritual walk for the second year in a row she was voted worst celebrity role model by girls age 9 to 15 on AOL.

In an inview awhile back she said her number one goal in 2011 was to work as a missionary and dig water wells for people in poor countries her Christian witness is now off of her website.

This is not to condemn Miley but to remind all of us it is tough to be a person of faith when you are a public person and put before the public at a young age. Lets pray for her because God can change anyone’s heart. What do you think.

June 20, 2011 Commentary

I think we all would agree stoning someone in the name of your faith would encourage one to not think your faith is peaceful right? Recently outside of the United States a teenage beauty queen was stoned to death by three Muslim suspects who alleged the 19-year-old violated Islam law by participating in pageants.
Initial media reports said three Muslim youths were responsible for the murder, claiming the beauty queen’s death had been justified under Islam.
And President Obama keeps telling us Islam is peaceful. Where are the so called moderate followers of Islam. What do you think.

What Does the Bible Say to Fathers and About Fathers

June 17, 2011 Commentary

How would you feel if some other nation told our government it could not defend our nation or our people. If you are like most Americans including yours truly you would be outraged.

President Obama has endorsed using the 1967 boundaries as the baseline for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. Israel has given and given to the Palestines. The truth is this dispute is not about land but is going on because radical followers of Islam hate Israel and the Jewish people.

It looks like President Obama is not a friend of Israel. God has not turned his back on the Jewish people and the rest of us shouldn’t either.

Good Come out of False Teaching Christ Return June 16, 2011 Commentary

So can anything good come out of the false teaching that Christ was to return last month which of course he didn’t. I believe two good things could come out of it.

First off if people get a spiritual desire to see what the Bible really says about Christ return not what some teacher says and then if people start to think about if they are ready if Christ would return today because one day he will return. The only way to be ready is by putting your faith in Christ and following him have you done that if not I hope and pray you will.

June 15th, 3011 Commentary

Why did so many people get fooled into believing Christ was coming back last month as taught by the founder of Family Radio. The answer is almost too simple we are to study the Bible and test things with the word of God. Too many people in our culture have become followers of some teacher instead of being students of the Bible. I heard some caller to Family Radio a few days after this event was to happen say that people shouldn’t be so tough on the man who had said Christ would return in May.

It doesn’t sound like that caller is testing things with the word. I would encourage anyone who are supporters of this teacher and his radio network to do some hard thinking if they should keep sending God’s money to this false teacher.

June 14, 2011 Commentary Why Christ Didn't Come Back in May

Recently another one of those folks told us Christ was coming back last month. This so called Bible teacher was wrong and for my next few commentaries I want to tell you why I knew he was wrong and why so many people were fooled into believing what he taught. We are talking about Bible teacher Harold Camping.

Mr. Camping was wrong to set a date not because that is what I think but because the Bible he claims to follow he doesn’t obey. God has told us not to set dates and God has said in his word no one knows when Christ will return but God the father.

Mr. Camping is a false teacher. We should stop supporting his work and sending God’s money to his radio network. What do you think. Until Next Time I’m Billy David Dickson

June 13, 2011 commentary

Would you take a stand for marriage even if it would cost you your job. Well that is what happen to hockey analyst, Damian Goddard. Damian was Angry about how his values were being slammed, he logged on to twitter. "I completely... support... the traditional and TRUE meaning of marriage," he typed.

Hours later, his employer sent out a message of its own. "Today's tweet from Damian Goddard does not reflect the views of Rogers Sportsnet." And to prove it, they fired him. "There seems to be a double standard here," said one newspaper, "with the message being: If you don't believe what we believe, we'll brand you a hater and... run you out of town"...

When asked about the outcome, Damian says he doesn't regret it. "I'm a devout... Catholic. It's not about hate at all. Amen.

David Wilkerson Was a MAD Person 6-3-11 Commentary

End of the World

The World was to end a few weeks ago according to a so called radio Bible teacher. So why was he wrong and why did so many people get fooled into following his teaching. Well a few days ago I did a video in which I answer those questions.
